Differences PTS vs FTS approved PR

I’m thinking of applying under the PTS/professionals scheme now.
However, in about 3 years I’ll also be eligible to apply under the FTS/family ties scheme, after marrying a SC.
I’m in my early 30’s and from a western country. 4+ years in SG now.

Would there be any disadvantages in later stages of life should I hold a PR granted under the PTS scheme, which I wouldn’t have if I wait 3 years and get it granted under the FTS scheme, all else being equal?

Could it be harder to get REP’s after being retired, unemployed, or living temporary abroad when holding a PTS instead of FTS PR, or would there be no difference when having a SC wife and SC children?

You'll have a hard time getting PR as a causasian / westerner full stop. You may find it easier as with a spouse as a sponsor. REP's for Family Ties MAY be easier but there are caveats.

I know it won’t be easy at all being in the others category as caucasian.
Just don’t want to regret in X years the scheme I applied under IF I get lucky.

Ideally I get it as soon as possible (BTO/EC fiancé scheme, stronger stability to start a family here, …)
Unless a PTS PR could give me lots of REP headache on my old day that would’ve been avoided with waiting for family ties PR.

REP's for Family Ties MAY be easier but there are caveats.

The caveat for Family Ties REP’s is probably divorce?
And then also the theoretical risk of being called up for NS, while PTS PR is officially exempted.

The mistake you're making in your thinking is that the scheme is fixed. It's not. If you marry later and go for an REP, having a Singapore spouse counts in your favour, particularly at retirement or if unemployed. The scheme difference is never mentioned once you have PR.

Also PR becomes much harder to obtain in your 40s. I would apply asap and if you fail then reapply once married for two years.
