Hi,
I am asking on behalf of a good friend of mine who is interested in applying for PR.
He is Ethnic Chinese who has been living in Singapore since Sec1(2009) and is effectively a Singaporean in terms of culture and behaviour. He also graduated from NUS EE with 2nd Upper Honours and is employed as a software engineer in a start-up.
The scenario is this: He worked for an oil company as a fresh grad and was let go just as COVID hits and is has difficulty finding employment for around a year until recently where he is now working in a start-up as a software engineer. However, his bad luck got him into a company with a pretty bad financial health but he also wants to start settling down in Singapore and to do that, he needs the PR.
He has been working in the start-up for around 3 months and the oil company for around 4 months before being let go.
Is he still eligible to apply for PR with the 3 months worth of payslip in current company?
Like what is the intention of the 6 months payslip written on the ICA website and is it possible to combine 2 employments totalling more than 6 months for the application?
Is PR application case-by-case and what is the chances of it being approved these days, assuming that PR application rate has dropped due to reduced number of foreigners in Singapore?

1. To prove that one is gainfully employed, can feed oneself without being a burden to the state should PR be approved.

2. ICA wants 6 consecutive months of payslips, not any 6 months of your choosing lah.

If one can’t provide payslips for a certain number of months, then one can provide the letter of termination from the previous company and a letter of employment from the current company listing the start date.

But it’s highly recommended to have 2-3 years of tax assessments before applying...

3. Of course all applications are case by in case basis. No one knows what is ICA’s criteria so people don’t game the system. What is one’s chances? Who knows? But if you read & search the forum, you can deduce what things are favourable. High salary =/= PR.
