What apps do you use the most in SG?
My most used apps here, excluding banking, brokers and other common utilities that go without saying...
TransferWise - convert & move money
Google Voice - my free virtual US phone
Google Maps - Singapore is well covered
WhatsApp - most common IM chat here
Stocks - not just stocks, currency too
Podcasts - no geo-restrictions on content
TuneIn Radio - SG & international streams
iHeart Radio - US radio streams
Overdrive - eBooks from US & SG libraries
Netflix - one app for all countries
MeWATCH - easy access to local TV & content
Weather - although accuracy in SG is shaky
MyENV - dengue locations & PSI levels
MyTransport - bus arrival times
MySingtel - check data usage
FairPrice - grocery delivery
Let me know if there are any other must have apps that I should know about.

I use Libby to access and download books from the National Library. It's saved me an absolute fortune. Currently reading Harlan Coben's Win, Robert Galbraith's Troubled Blood, and Stephen King's Mr Mercedes.
Otherwise I regularly use UOB Mighty, myCPF, MySingtel, Apple Music (HATE Spotify...) Podcasts, Whatsapp, Netflix, Prime Video (For the Expanse and American Gods) and Disney+.

That is a good write up. I’ve been using Google Voice for at least a decade now, can’t complain because I’ve never paid a single cent for it.
Back when I first set it up, I bought a cheap VoIP adapter for $50 and used it with Google Voice... it’s was like having a US land line wired into my home in Singapore. That worked well for several years, but eventually stopped working.
Within the last year, the one feature that was always missing suddenly started working... that is, receiving incoming calls via the app (it always went to voicemail before). I don’t receive many calls, but I have encountered at least one (Citibank US) that won’t allow any other means to authenticate myself than to receive an automated call on a US phone.
One tip: if you attempt a call a US number and it tries to charge you, adding that number to your phone directory will solve that problem and the call will be free.

Oh I see... I didn’t understand what you meant by free US phone line at first.malcontent wrote: ↑Fri, 02 Apr 2021 12:09 pmThat is a good write up. I’ve been using Google Voice for at least a decade now, can’t complain because I’ve never paid a single cent for it.
