School Choice

Post by MJLNZ » Tue, 30 Mar 2021 4:39 am

Hi,
Would really appreciate some feedback from parents about the International Schools, I have 2 boys (12 and 10) both are into their sport (rugby a must do!) - we are relocating to Singapore (covid reliant) at the end of the year, currently in Auckland, NZ.

Be great to get some feedback about the different schools as visiting isn't really possible at the moment.

thanks in advance

The more reputable International Schools like Singapore American School and UWC offer rugby. They are the only International Schools that I can confidently recommend.

For sporty kids, especially those into rugby, there are definitely some International Schools in Singapore that stand out.

Tanglin Trust School is a popular choice for families from New Zealand and the UK, it offers a British curriculum (up to IGCSE and A-Levels or IB) and has a strong emphasis on sports, including rugby. Their facilities are excellent, and they participate in competitive inter-school leagues.

Australian International School (AIS) is another strong contender, especially for families from this region. AIS runs the Australian curriculum with IB in senior years, and has a big focus on sport, rugby. Their sports programme is pretty extensive and very community-driven.

UWCSEA (United World College) is broader in its international student body and known for holistic education. Rugby isn’t always a primary sport on offer, depending on the campus and age group, but they do offer a wide variety of athletics and are very focused on developing well-rounded students.

If you know anyone still in the school search process and are comparing curriculum, sport offerings, or fees, I’d suggest trying doris.school. it’s a free tool that helps narrow down school options based on your child’s interests and your family’s priorities. Super helpful for expat families making decisions from abroad. Let me know if you’d like more detailed comparisons!

Sorry @Sara.Haddah

While you are probably well-intentioned, we have a policy on this board that precludes advertising in the body of forum messages/replies. You have made 16 posts and have advertised the same site link in every one of them. That is advertising. If you want to advertise purchase a banner ad but keep it out of the forum threads. If I see that 17th post with the same recommendation within, you will be banned and all posts will be deleted. You have been warned.

I think joining a boarding school would be good for you.
