Slim to zero. Not much different than the average joe from India who is applying currently for a very small number of slots available for that ethnic group. This means you are competing with the elite from your country which makes up the largest number of applicants for one of the smallest ethnic demographics here. Not good I'm afraid. There is nothing there to set you apart from the multitudes. Oh, and you don't have an MSc until you get it so it means nothing at this point in time.

I would assume that the gahmen has made cover letters redundant so that applicants can’t spew superlatives about their tertiary institution or company. My 2ct

For several years now. Before I retired, I never bothered to even look at the cover letters as they were usually so full of BS and written in Shakespearian English. Good for a chuckle occasionally but so out of touch with reality as to be a waste of time.

Hi All,
just came upon this forum and would like to get your opinion and feedback. We are applying as a family for the 4th time, please advise on how we can increase our chance. During the past 3 applications, I was always the main applicant due to higher salary. Is it advisable that my husband should try to become the main applicant this time?
Here is our profile:
Applied and got rejected:
2015 - too naive, EP and SPass, whole family
2016 - EP and SPass, did not include kids in our application coz one local colleague said our kids dont have economic value at the moment
2019 - EP and SPass, whole family
children: Both girls (now ages 14 and 12)
Main Applicant:
Nationality/Race: Filipino
Age:40
Employment Status: EP (renewed last year)
Job: IT Specialist (IT/Information Security) at MNC bank
Degree: Bachelor of Science in Information Technology + industry certification
Basic Salary: 97.7k (excluding bonus of 1-1.5 months)
Started working in SG: Since 2012
Length of stay in SG: 9 yrs (this july)
Bloodbank Donor: Since 2012 (at least 2x per year)
Husband:
Nationality: Filipino
Race: Chinese
Age: 41
Employment Status: SPass
Job: IT Support Analyst at MNC (Food/Beverage Manufacturing)
Degree: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
Basic Salary: 66k (excluding bonus of 1-1.5 months)
Started working in SG: Since 2010
Length of stay in SG: 11 yrs
Changes or Difference from last (3) rejected applications:
1. Husband and children will be declared with Chinese as a race (recently found proof aside from his obvious chinese last name; too scared to declare last time without valid proof)
2. Family ties: my sister is SGPR married to a Singaporean
3. Salary increment for both of us

Only valid changes that matter are 1. & 3. Your sister is not considered Family ties. Only parents or children are considered for that classification. As you are applying as a family, I don't think it matter much so with your income being the higher, his and the children's proof of ethnicity may be enough to sway it. It's worth a try, but the biggest hurdle that cannot be altered is your nationality. Very difficult for Filipino to get PR. Possible but it's like salmon swimming upstream. Persistence is a virtue. Go for it & good luck.

Thank you very much for your valuable inputs and feedback.I am very much interested in the statement "not much different from average joe from India", I would love to hear your thoughts on how to make myself distinct.

No way to answer that. The only thing I have to go by is what you have presented to us here. We don't know you, your power spots or your weak points. Based on your salaries, you are no better than most locals with the same quals.... So why import when they can train up citizens?

Agree to a certain extent. You’re telling him to increase his economic value to the gahmen, which is just a threshold.
Staying longer helps, but that is just more time for the gahmen to seek evidences of integration. HDBs have forced integration, forced to live close to one another. Living in an expat enclave, there’s none of these.
Basically I think the gahmen has made enough media statements on what the other criterias are (new since 2015) but it’s up to everyone’s intepretation on what it is.
