DPs based on an S Pass

Post by nomadinsg » Mon, 22 Mar 2021 10:51 am

Hi all,

I know the qualifying salary to have dependants is $6K, whether on an S Pass or EP. Does it make it easier/difficult on one pass or the other? Do you know what considerations go into someone getting the DPs?

My situation is that I'd like to hire someone on an S Pass but if he can't get the DPs for the family then it's a deal breaker. He was working on an EP before (with a higher salary), and did get the DPs. Would going down a pass and to a lower salary make the DP applications harder?

Thanks!

Yes. But he still might get it, but it would not be 'a given' in any case. EP should not be a problem. Not enough anecdotal evidence on a situation were an EP is being downgraded to an S pass.
