While I fall into boomer age group, I actually consider my mother to be the boomer and I, as her son, am Gen X.

My mother was a war time baby born in Germany during the boom period brought on by the German economic recovery during the war build up and entry. I was born in Australia as the child of a migrant who was part of the boomers.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.

Had I been born 2 years earlier I wouldn't be a boomer. (I'd been from the 'Silent Generation' before that!)

Got my first shot of the Moderna vaccine on Sunday. Very, very smooth and efficient process.
Moderna here as well - & no queue around noon at all, I must have spent less than 35 mins total at the centre.

I made sure to thank all I met.

Absolutely first class, Singapore!

Actually quite amazed we get access to Moderna here (just pick one of the 4 centres using them - Hong Kah North, Marsiling, Punggol 21, Radin Mas CC's) - most of the production currently goes to US.

Still a bit shoulder punched this morning, but quickly improving. Between 6 to 18 hrs after the injection I had a light headache & felt warmer than usual, then back to normal.

With regards to side effects, you can find the published data for Pfizer and Moderna. Can’t find any data on Sinovac. :P

For Pfizer and Moderna, about 50% will experience side effects while the other 50% will not experience anything. Most people in my circle of 20 to 30 somethings felt miserable (we are in healthcare related fields), only a small handful didn’t experience anything after both doses.

The data seems to suggest that side effects lessens with age? I have a background in biomedical science so reading the data got me excited and nerdy.

That’s surprising. I would have expected the opposite.

Lisa, if you think about it, it does make some sense. The older we get, the more herd immunities we obtain and they will only strengthen with age unless we deliberately remove ourselves from the public and stay in 'clean-room' environment. There is a lot of truth to the old saying that we need to eat a peck of dirt in our lifetimes.

I see your point. My reasoning was that as we get older and frailer, our bodies and immune systems become weaker. The same reason why simple viruses like the common cold becomes much more dangerous for someone in their late 60s while for someone in their 30s its no sweat.

I may be wrong, but I would expect the side effects of vaccination to be related to the response of the immune system. Stronger response, more and more severe side effects. Unfortunately getting older weakens the immune system. So I agree with Lisa on this.

It’s hard to say without knowing if blood samples were taken at various time points to test for the immune response.

My friends and I speculated maybe the older generation did not complain about their symptoms and toughed it out. Even my mother didn’t want to take Panadol for the muscle ache and headache post-vaccination.
