Applied Sep 2020 and waiting eagerly :)

Anyone else applied Sep/post-Sep and got a response already?

Applied in Dec 2020 and rejected in April 2021 exactly in four months.
This is the 3rd application in 9 years.
The quota is undefeated!!

There are always outliers..but majority on Indian people on this forum have been rejected 3+ times and have been here for years. Therefore I said that the quota is undefeated..

Not sure what point you guys are trying to make. If you read around, it's been posted several times roughly what the Indian quota is likely to be (simple math). Most likely there are also a ton of Indians applying for those few spots and many of them are working in IT and /or banks with salaries anywhere between the 100k to 400k mark. Some are at the half million mark as well. Meaning that it is quite possibly the most competitive category.

No one really to blame. I always say this - if you are in that bunch with salary in that range, below 40 and can demonstrate that you can fit in, then you can stand out and get one of those PRs.

Sadly, smoulder, most just don't want to read the writing on the wall. You know that old saying, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.

Here's some food for thought... from this website:

https://www.mom.gov.sg/documents-and-pu ... ce-numbers

We can see that there are about 351,000 E-Pass and S-Pass workers in Singapore.

We also know that about 30,000 PR's are granted every year. We know that PR's, for the most part, must be EP's or S-Pass to apply.

Therefore, less than 10 percent of qualified E-Pass and S-Pass workers actually get PR in any given year. The numbers may actually be less because this doesn't account for PR's granted under the family ties scheme.

So, the 64 dollar question is: How many of those 351,000 E-Pass and S-Pass workers actually apply for PR every year? If 10 percent apply, then virtually every applicant gets PR. If 50 percent apply each year, the the chances are 1 in 5 that you get PR.

Thoughts and comments on the real numbers are encouraged.

You forgot to factor in DP in the 351,000 E-Pass and S-Pass. Most E-Pass workers who apply and get PRs apply for their spouses and kids too. I'd say chances are closer to 1 in 10-15.

Also forgot to factor in the racial demographics of which Singapore uses immigration to maintain at percentages they are comfortable with. So for instance out of say 7.5% (Indian demographic for instance) that would only mean a maximum of 2250 PR from that ethnicity at best. Do you reckon only 2500 Indians apply for PR every years? Or, would it be closer to 10K applying (or even more). It's known that the largest ethnicity applying for PR are Indians. Therefore the competition for those 2250 places is tremendous and ICA has their choice of picking the cream of the crop, as it were.

Ah, I actually did a fun little exercise for myself (because I have way too much time on a Friday evening).

You can actually refer to population in brief released each year here and get a sense of what your chances are: https://www.strategygroup.gov.sg/files/ ... f-2020.pdf

Me being a Pakistani PR, I am categorized under Indians here, and my age is 32 years. So with that information, coupled with the plethora of information available in the pdf above, my chances of getting SC is this:

total Indian citizens at 7.5% = 264,00
total Indian residents at 9.0% = 363,000
total Indian PRs = 100,000 out of 521,000 PRs

Total PRs in age group 30-39 = 112,000
Total Indian PRs in age group 30-39 = 112,000/5 = 22,400

Total Indian PRs who apply for SC at 40% (conservative guess) = 9000

Total citizenships granted = 22,714

Total citizenships granted for age group 31-40 = 5,565

Total citizenships granted for age group 31-40 for asian countries (non SEA) = 1780

Total citizenships granted to Indians for age group 31-40 (guesstimate) = ~1000

Chances of SC for Indians of age group 31-40 = 1 in 9

Of course, I'm making a lot of assumptions here and ethnicity is not just one factor affecting your application, so take this with a grain of salt, You could be an Indian and your chances could 8 in 9 because of something else in your profile, no one knows. But this gives you a good general idea.

Do you guys seriously believe that the competitive advantage to get PRs for Indians are based on how much they earn? Hence dishing out the advise improve your career/salary?

This will inevitably form an elitist group of new citizens, detached from the local Indian population.

Nope not at all. Anecdotal evidence seems to suggest that an under 40 year old with a stable income but not necessarily earth shattering has a good chance when compared with say a director in a bank who takes home 400 to 500k. If that average salary Indian (with a salary of 120 to 150 K) is in a stable marriage with a Singaporean preferably from the favoured race. That is probably a very important criteria.

Was positive when I read this in first glance. But then I found and re-read the criteria "a stable marriage with a Singaporean preferably from the favoured race." So it seems the key is only this criteria and it matters least if the person is Indian or from other country !!!!

Sorry, simple_guy, but there is not a simple_answer. There is much we do not know about the decision making criteria, other than what we have gathered over the years and modified as and when we see different outcomes for positions that may or may not have made it in earlier years. The government uses moveable goalposts in EVERYTHING they do. It's how they survive as the have the ability to turn on a dime to a rapidly changing world. Because Singapore is small and they have a stable majority in the government, they can literally change their positions overnight, just like the return to Phase 2 yesterday. Welcome to the reality of Singapore where NOTHING is written in stone.
