how to calculate gross salary

Post by keisuke » Fri, 29 Jan 2021 10:57 am

Hi,

When applying for PR, they require Base Salary and Gross Salary.
My total compensation includes:
1. Base Salary
2. Bonus
3. Restricted Stock Unit (which was granted once and vested 1/16 every quarter)
4. Other allowances such as transport, wellness

My question is, which one can be counted as Gross Salary? I want to maximize the number to increase the chance.
Thanks

Base salary is just base salary, whereas gross salary includes all monthly and yearly allowances.

Just calculate the annual components of 1, 2 and 3 and divide them by 12 to get the monthly gross salary. I presume you also have to submit payslips and ICA will be able to make sense of what the gross salary components are.

I won’t include things like “wellness” in there. Those are more like perks and are probably not taxable anyway. I get handphone allowance and ~2000 flexi dollars (taxable) of sorts per year which I can use on things like wellness but I won’t count that as part of my salary.

The Annexe A form that you'd have received from HR should have Base salary and Gross salary info. Why don't you key in the same in your application in order to avoid confusion?
