Hello! Our family is moving to Singapore next month from California. My husband has a new job in Singapore and I will be on a dependent visa. I have a job in the US, and we plan to keep our US bank account and home. I am wondering if there's any way to work remotely for a few months for my US job after moving to SG. I believe if i were on a tourist visa in Singapore, I could just do my US job. But with a dependent visa, how big of an issue is it if I am being paid by a US company to my US bank account? My company tried to go through an Employer of Record, but they could not get me a letter of consent to work because the position is temporary. Any advise is helpful thanks!

No real issue. com in on a DP and work remote. If it doesn't impact local employment here they won't care. Have the salary paid into the US and pay your US taxes.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or
http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Also required to pay Singapore taxes on income earned while resident in Singapore. Of course, they will never know if you don't report, but that is the law. You file as an unregistered sole proprietor on what is basically a 5 line form.

Thanks to Strong Eagle and PNG for the advice. I've written an inquiry to MoM, per Strong's suggestion and am awaiting a response. If you have seen any links from the SG government websites that you think may address my specific issue, please let me know. Thanks!

The MoM is very efficient!
Thank you for your online enquiry on 28 January 2021.
A Letter of Consent (LOC) will not be required when:
1) A Dependant's Pass (DP) holder is working for an overseas company from home; and
2) The overseas company has no local presence; and
3) The DP holder is not meeting or providing services to clients in Singapore.
Therefore, you may still perform work for your overseas employer via telecommuting from home.
With regard to the income tax, it is advisable for you to check with our colleagues directly at Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS).
Hope the above clarifies!

Thanks for posting this. And glad to see that MoM still answers the same way they've been doing for a decade.
