Leather Jacket
I've a few leather jackets that I have in the US, is it practical to bring them to use in Singapore?

Unless you are planning on flying to Japan, Korea, Taiwan or N. Vietnam or China on a regular basis during the winter months.

Leather products gets moldy real quick in the tropical weather here. Just in the 10 months during covid lockdown, my office shoes have grown moldy, and they were sitting out in the open air... and these are good quality Johnston & Murphy shoes!
If you must store leather goods here, I recommend getting a mini-fridge size dry box (we have two of them) to store photo albums, important paperwork, leather goods... and perhaps surprisingly, chewable meds like a roll of Tums or Rolaids keep just fine in there.

OP does raise a point that some times we need cold weather gear. I've found nylon goose down jackets to be an option that don't go mouldy.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.

You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Re: Leather Jacket
It is a good idea to have at least one or two good jackets here. I’d recommend an insulation layer (like fleece) and outer shell that doubles as a light jacket. We usually ziplock ours in plastic until we need them for trips abroad. You do not want to be forced to buy jackets in Singapore... the quality, variety & price are not nearly as good as in colder countries.

Re: Leather Jacket
Unless you are confident that you’ll be able to store your jacket in a temperature and moisture controlled environment, I don’t recommend it. All of my leather has gotten moldy time after time, I’ve had to get them professionally cleaned. Unless you’re a frequent traveler which is quite impossible in these times it’s best to leave them in the states where you know you’ll find them in the same condition when you get back.
