Weather. There can be nasty storms there. Pilot asked to climb (to get above it presumably) but didn't. Probably flew into it and then lost control. Pilot training has really dropped due to Covid19 - 2020 was deadliest year for flying for some time.

Very unfortunate..you are right, probably pilot skill's also got bit rusty due to Covid19. and bad weather. Our weather in Singapore is also quite stormy everyday...
