Re: PR Approval Probability 2021
Hey everyone,
My first PR application was rejected recently and I wanted to share my experience here in case it's of use to anyone. Have been following this forum for a long time so thought of contributing to this community.
Me:
Age: 35
Sex: M
Citizenship: Indian
Married/kids: No
Stay in SG: 5 years
Education: Engineering
Field of work: Product Management/Strategy in AI/Big Data companies (experience in both VC funded Singapore startups and MNCs)
Pass: EP
The PR result came in 4 months + 2 weeks. While I'm a bit sad that it's a rejection, I'm glad I didn't have to wait as long as some applicants have to. I knew my chances of approval were almost non-existent, given the ethnicity quota, small number of new PRs approved per year etc. The only glimmer of hope was from the fact that I work in an industry that seems to be a priority for the government.
Good luck with your applications.
Cheers!

Hi Kind Folks!insomnia360 wrote: ↑Sat, 29 Jan 2022 3:43 pmHi guys, I've read through a number of pages here, and felt that I might have made mistakes in applying for my wife PR too soon.
I'm not sure if this has bearing but here's my profile
Age: 33
Race: Local Indian
Nationality: Singaporean
Gender: Male
Profession: Accountant
Salary: (current) 96K PA
Wife
Age: 29
Race: Indian
Nationality: India
Profession: HomeMaker
Married since: Feb 2020 in Singapore
Current Status: LTVP since June 2020
We just started trying for kids. Why I said I made a mistake was because I applied PR for her circa July 2021, when some posts here recommended to wait 2 years or more at least.. whereas it's only been a year and a half roughly when I applied. Also my salary when I applied was way lower, I was at a small singapore startup (42k p.a) with equity options, but since moved on from there.
Just checking in to gather your thoughts. My wife wants to visit her family in her country for a couple of weeks, which she hasn't since she came in Feb 2020 (didn't go even when her dad passed).
I intended to book a flight but then a senior citizen 'seemingly experienced' in this matters shared that it might be frowned upon by ICA for a person awaiting for PR, on reasons that it doesn't show, er, loyalty or something along those lines. That really doesn't sound plausible to me, a person visiting family does not mean they do not intend to set down roots.
I guess just in case i'm clueless in this matters, i'm asking if there's an inkling of truth to such a thing?
Re: PR Approval Probability 2021
I don't think traveling out of Singapore signals not being loyal. Of course, no one knows for sure exactly what criteria they look at. I suppose that as long as they don't see people traveling out frequently and staying out of the country for long durations, it should be OK.insomnia360 wrote: ↑Fri, 18 Mar 2022 4:05 pmHi Kind Folks!insomnia360 wrote: ↑Sat, 29 Jan 2022 3:43 pmHi guys, I've read through a number of pages here, and felt that I might have made mistakes in applying for my wife PR too soon.

By the way, did you update ICA on your new salary? I suggest that you do that. And how long have you been married?

Yes I did update them! At the point of application it was 1.5 years, like I highlighted I realised I should have waited.smoulder wrote: ↑Fri, 18 Mar 2022 6:45 pmI don't think traveling out of Singapore signals not being loyal. Re: PR Approval Probability 2021
Hi everyone, just wanted to check our chances of getting a PR.
We applied in October 2021, and this month (March 2022) we received a request for family CV - about to upload.
Main applicant: Female 36 at time of application (now 37), married no children
Race: Chinese
Nationality: Australian
Education: Bachelors degree from Australia
Length of stay/Working in Singapore: 3 Years (2.5 years at time of application)
Income tax Assessment: 2 times at time of application
Employment/salary: VP global bank $170k + bonuses
Total Work Experience: 16 years
Current Pass: EP
Husband (also on application) 40/41 YO, male
Race: caucuses/European
Nationality: Australian
Pass: DP
Length of stay/Working in Singapore: 3 Years
Currently not drawing salary in Singapore due to restrictions with DP.
What do you think our chances are? Does the family CV have a big impact on our outcome?
Please let me know your thoughts! Thank you

Low chance as short stay in SG and also quota available is very lessRYC wrote: ↑Fri, 18 Mar 2022 8:01 pmHi everyone, just wanted to check our chances of getting a PR.

Re: PR Approval Probability 2021
Ethnically, RYC has an advantage, being Chinese and drawing a good income as well. To answer your question, yes, the family CV could impact the outcome or it may not. Often is to check the backgrounds of applicants, e.g., where the parents are, their history, what kind of possible collateral baggage could they bring into Singapore, e.g., were your parents members of the CCP for instance. Not saying that it will make a difference but it could or it won't but they want to see. From our experience this is a good thing (it shows that they are at least interested enough to ask for more information) but on the flip side, depending on what turns up.......
However, the downside is the fact that the husband is on a DP so it shouldn't impact the quota as he is not the main applicant. But, the problem might be that Singapore is still, theoretically, a patriarchal society so there is also the possibility that they might still view it as the wife will generally follow the husband. If he continues to have difficulties in finding a job, be it due to credentials, or ethnicity or for that matter, age. Then he might want to move back to Oz. It's happened before. The male ego is a fragile thing, sad to say. Might not be a problem in this case but it has been known as an issue before. RYC how long have you and your husband been married? Are children on the radar scope? (my own were born when I was 37 and my wife was 38 - the second at 42/43) so while getting close it's getting near to the danger zone and from a possible perspective of the ICA they might look at the current application and say, well, we gave them three years to get settled in and the husband to find employment and the fact that the main applicant is a VP in the financial industry, for an International bank, it could very easily just parachute her into another location as there is nothing else holding them here as the husband does not work.
These are just random thoughts that have impacted others over the 25 years I was in HR and 17 years on this forum. It just as easily could be smooth sailing. I hope it is and wish you luck. SMS

Re: PR Approval Probability 2021
SundayMorningStaple - yes my husband had had alot of difficulties securing a job as the EP/SP quota limitations especially after Covid. He was running his own business in Australia which he can't do as a DP now adays. so we are hoping if we get PR this will remove the hurdle for him to find local employment.

Hello All, Just wanted to share that our PR application got approved today with effective from March 16, 2022. However there is no option to download IPA letter online and ICA office says it will take 2 weeks for hard copy of IPA letter to reach the mentioned address. Can anyone let me know the validity of IPA and what are the docs generally asked for submission?
