I'd really love to see an updated list of what matters, or what one could actually do to improve one's chances, this forum is awesome, but can't help to feel that the pinnned resources are a little dated

Most of the factors that increase chances are out of ones control- ethnicity is a huge one. What you can do is wait a longer period of time before applying (typically 2-3 years), work to receive promotions/raises (to alleviate the governments fear of you becoming a financial liability), and get settled with kids.

Thank you Lisa, we have two kids already, one born in Singapore, I guess best thing we can do is to keep our heads down (rejection received Dec 2021) and apply again in early 2024

That’s a good idea, if you’ve just been rejected in 2021 that would be no point applying so soon after, you’re just wasting your time and effort.

Was the salary back then combined or individual? Any plans for kids? If yes I’d say hold off until you’ve had a child and apply as a family, otherwise no harm trying again. You’ve stayed in Singapore an additional 2 years since your last application, thats usually enough time.

Individual was 8.6 and its individual right now as well and no plans at the moment, next year may be.

I see. 8.6 between both of you is not too bad but it’s a little on the low end.

Indian couple 30 and 27
Salary: 8600 per month
Industry: Marketing IT
Role: Technical Lead
Both Masters degree holder
Spouse was working on Loc in shipping with 2k salary.

Change in profile:
Industry: Fintech
Salary: 15.5k
Role: Heading Engineering Department
Spouse not working now

my PR got approved after more than 2 years of waiting.

here is my profile when i applied with my wife who is also under EP with similar profile.

Race : Indonesian Javanese
Gender : Male

Length of stay : almost 4 years (now 6+ years)
Salary :90k+

Congratulations! and obviously patience paid off here. This was good to see as it not very often we see ethnic Indonesians gaining PR. Was pretty commonplace 15 years ago, but then they did away with the LPR scheme (I, myself, in my former role as an HR Manager hired two during that program). Again, congrats and thanks for coming back here to let us know. Power!
