google this forum and gather who is asking for chances for applying a PR.
Then ask urself... how your profile can overtake them.

Re: PR Approval Probability 2021
Thanks for that! for starters my ethnicity doesn’t help. Would like to know the other factors that could go against my application? And anything that would aid it?

HiRamaKrishnaKalaga wrote: ↑Mon, 15 Mar 2021 3:00 pmChances of PR for Indian male : 28 years, B Tech and M Tech from Indian Institute of Technology, India & Ph D in Semi conductor technologies from NTU, working in a big semiconductor tech company on S Pass, with a basic salary of SGD 5600 for the past 6 months and living in Singapore for 4 and a half years. What chances of PR?
I have a very similar profile as yours and I am extremely sure we are working for the same semiconductor company (I can guess by the salary since none of the other semicon companies pay in the same range). I am surprised you are on S Pass though (My guess is, they would upgrade you to E Pass once you get your degree cert, it happened with my friends, so do ensure HR applies for upgrade of your pass). I assume you have already defended your thesis but are yet to receive hard copy of your certificate? If you have already received the hard copy, then contact HR requesting them to upgrade your pass to EP. I’ve heard the chances of PR approval are much higher if one’s on EP.
I had also completed my Ph.D. from NTU and joined the semicon industry. I completed my dual degree (engineering) in India but not from the IITs. My uni is one of the top ones in India but not as famous as IITs, outside the country. I had the exact same salary as you, but been in Sg since 2013. I applied for my PR on the very day I got my 6th month payslip (in 2019). I got my PR approved in exactly 6 months.
I think single, local uni graduate, Ph.D., semicon industry (especially this company) are all advantageous. I know all my friends with similar profiles have received approvals. All of us were batchmates in NTU and are working in different semicon companies here. We are all really happy that we can continue to live in Singapore as it is home now! So, do apply if you really intend to stay here.
