Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum and searched for the answers to my questions without any success so i would like to ask them on this post, if I may.
I am a experienced professional in the marine industry and a qualified marine surveyor and I am looking to connect with the professionals and recruiters in that field in Singapore. Many headhunters seem to only be specialised on IT and Admin roles. If anyone knows of such recruiters, I would be grateful to be informed.
Thank you for your assistance

Marine Industry Career
Re: Marine Industry Career
This is an industry dominated by locals and lower cost nationalities. What code are you certified to? IF it is a rare or in demand one you may be in luck but if it's a common one like Lloyds or ABS I doubt you will suceed. I would work through your professional society for recommendation as to potential employers.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Re: Marine Industry Career
Thank you PNGMK for your insight. In fact I am specialised in super / mega yachts, an industry i have been working in for the past 20 years, there is a great demand for technical management for this industry in Asia in general as the traffic for very large yachts (over 80m) and local SE Asia ownership has increased dramatically yet the shipyard facilities that specialise in that field are nearly nonexistent. Having worked in Hong Kong for some time, I can see the potential business possibilities.
I also read that Singapore is making it more difficult than ever to join the market from abroad..
I will keep searching, thanks again

Re: Marine Industry Career
I'd think speaking to Yacht maintenance and builders via the RSYC, Raffles, One Degree 15 etc might be a start.
I know the boss at Summit Marine if you want to talk to him.

Re: Marine Industry Career
Yes, this part I know, superyacht maintenance in Singapore occurs in ST Engineering (Marine), Sembcorp and I believe the smaller ones (under 45 metres) may go to Kim Seah Boat Builders. The first 2 "mega" companies seem to mainly recruit themselves (locals probably confirming what you said earlier). A part from sending the CV on the career page (which is nearly guaranteed not to be seen) i've been searching for the external recruiting companies they potentially contract. Would be happy to get the contact of Summit Marine, he may know more on this subject. Thanks again!
