Any way to stay?

Post by leebee » Thu, 31 Dec 2020 10:44 am

Hi all,

I'm British with a Singaporean partner (unmarried). My EP ended, I got the STVP and just got a 2 week extension from MoM submitted by my ex-employer. This is my third EP.

I am currently interviewing with 3 companies for senior IT roles. However, the process will take longer than 2 weeks. One company may progress to the point of offer in the next 2 weeks, but certainly not all the way to EP approval.

I've spoken to ICA and due to the fact that I am coming off an EP they say I have to deal with MoM. MoM only want to deal with the ex-employer.

Is there any avenue for me to stay that anyone knows? Can my partner sponsor? Can the ex-employer submit for another extension / appeal for a longer extension?

Of course with covid if I get a role and EP I will have to return to 14 days SHN with two tests at significant cost. Currently not allowed to return from the UK.

Any ideas really appreciated!

Thanks!
Leebee

As the foreigners here, we always try get new EP approved under next employer before submitting resignation letter to the current employer.

Not sure this can apply to your case: https://www.ica.gov.sg/citizen/sponsor/ ... ocialvisit

Thanks nkhant. I didn't say I resigned.

Thanks for the link. This I believe is for extending a tourist visa. I have an MoM STVP. Also this link says they require a "Disembarkation/Embarkation (D/E) Card reference number" from a tourist visa...so I don't think this works.

This is the form for ex-employer to request for extension:

http://www.mom.gov.sg/extend-stay

Not sure the scenarios listed for application can suite to your case.

If no other option in the above form applies, you can see, there is an option that says, you can book a flight within 14days and request for extension until the flight date. That may buy you some time. Hope this helps.

Hi Leebee,

Have you got your second extension of stvp? Can you also tell us about your reason provided for the first request that got you 14 day extension.

I too may come across this situation
