STVP issued after EP cancellation unable to extend?

Post by yisonaise » Tue, 08 Dec 2020 2:23 pm

[*]Hi All, I (local male) have been reading the forums for awhile now and with regards to the above topic. I understand that SVP issued after EP cancellation cannot be extended by individual and can only be applied via ex employer to MOM. (correct me if I'm wrong)

I'm currently in a confusing situation. my fiancee (malaysian) is currently holding a EP, however there may be a chance that her EP may be cancelled.

We have already scheduled a ROM date Feb 2021 previously, and if she loses her EP now, the 30 days would not cover to our ROM date.(with the Covid-19 situation, if she goes back to Malaysia, Im worried she can't come back for ROM)

We also have a LLE approval letter that ICA has issued us, and we plan to apply LTVP for her after our ROM (understand it is not 100% even with LLE)

So in all my question is, other than the following,

1. her looking for a new job (which she is doing)
2. pray she doesn't lose her EP before ROM

what else should I do? any insights or tips? so stressed..

*side note, if SVP issued after EP cancellation can't be extended, does it mean even after ROM , before her LTVP is approved she CANNOT lose her EP?

The odds of getting the non-extendable SVP given upon cancellation of the EP with the current travel restrictions will probably entail contacting or visiting ICA where I do believe the are giving extensions due to covid only. As far as marriage plans, I doubt very seriously that ICA gives a hoot about the LLE and ROM dates. However, they may be able to relax it a bit but it is going to entail you contacting ICA. You will probably be given a short term LTVP or an SVP extension.

sigh, I wonder if there are any other ways to do this. I guess I have to look and ask around more.

If anyone that have any other ideas do share, thank you!
