If you are SC, wait for 2 years of marriage and then apply.

Don't waste money for an agency, unless you are too rich and can't fill in simple forms yourself.

As said 2 years from wedding date is a good baseline. A baby or 2 would improve approval chances too. And spouses citizenship has an impact too.

Are you illiterate? That's about the only reason to pay $5,000 for a an agent.

Also note that after the recent court cases exposed that some agencies are bribing officers at ICA I expect all agency applications will be subject to extra scrutiny.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Sad thing. I came across an ad on Facebook for one of these "agents". In the comments below, there was a maid who posted that she had been in Singapore for 13 years and wanted to know her chances of approval. Instead of just being blunt, they replied that they had sent her a PM which I presume meant that they had sent her details on how to contact them and take it further. Maybe I'm just being presumptuous, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were that lacking of scruples.
