REP Transfer - New Passport New Nationality

Post by curious10 » Wed, 18 Nov 2020 9:55 am

Hi,

what happens if one wants to transfer rep to new passport of a new nationality?
I wanted to enquire on a situation.
the REP is renewal is in another 2 years. But there is a change in citizenship. eg. canada. can the REP transfer be done online? there is a option for nationality while transferring REP.
can the PR return to sg and live and work?

This is all possible but it may raise a red flag as it will look to ICA as though the REP holder is planning to migrate to Canada and ICA may only give 1 year REP.

If you change your anchor Nationality, you will probably lose your PR. PR is granted on certain prerequisites, one of which is Nationality at the time of application & approval. Should that change, it may change the ICA's point spread and they could refuse to give you an REP based on your new nationality. We had a moderator here who held three nationalities/passports (US, CA & UK) but his Anchor Nationality for his PR was only on his US passport.
