Does it really work on saving the limbs? It sounds rather scary and gross. But probably the only last hope for diabetic patients.

That’s terrifying, I can’t imagine having those creepy crawlies eating at my flesh! Can’t be very hygienic either...

Read that in the UK a long time ago, early 2000s.
Believe it or not, it’s a very precise way of clearing dead flesh - a good surgeon with the sharpest blade will still cause collateral damage.
Not the most appealing treatment, along similar lines to using leeches to help bleed people.

I knew it has been around for 15 or 20 years. It is really useful for massive open trauma as the maggots will only eat the rotting flesh and not the good flesh.
