Adoption

Post by LowCai » Mon, 09 Nov 2020 9:47 am

I’m planning to adopt a child for months now, but I wanted to seek legal advice on how to do it. Anyone here has an adopted child?

I have one and a few others I know do. Right now adopting from overseas is almost impossible due to the the impossibility of getting a SVP to bring the child in on. You need to find a local child. Unfortunately unless you are a SC you cannot go through MCYS and need to find one privately or via an adoption agent. No all agents will work with foreigners.
In addition a huge sticking point - you MUST have a supporting letter from your country's embassy that states the child will have the right to return to your home country with you (or can at least apply for a visa to do so) - after some foreigners abandoned an adopted child here the High Court brought that rule in.

You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Hello,

I'm in the process of applying HSR by MCYS so that we will be eligible to adopt a child. Wondering has anyone have experience in adopting a child from Thailand and share their experience?

I've heard anecdotally that it is very hard for American / Australian to adopt inside Thailand. Not sure if it applies for your route.

Wow PNGMK, that’s awesome. Don’t even remember you mentioning you had kids.
