Structural Engineering/Civil Engineering Jobs in SP
Hey there,
I'm trying to find a job as a structural/civil engineer in Singapore because i want to relocate to SP with my Singaporean girlfriend. I have ~2years of experience but very good grades (almost straight A's, awards etc.). Since I'm European I've already applied to most of the European companies in SP and now I'm moving on to the local ones. Thus, my questions:
1) What are good local civil/structural engineering companies/consultants in SP?
2) Is there anything to consider in particular when applying at local companies?
Best wishes,
J

Look into Aecom, a big global company and they do a lot of infrastructure projects across the region.
Current climate favours Singaporean’s and talent already residing in the country...

good start point.
If you are qualified and experienced and will accept 8k SGD month or less you have a reasonable chance

Why did the European companies in Singapore reject you?julzwie wrote: ↑Mon, 26 Oct 2020 6:09 pmHey there,

You don't have a lot of experience and that, coupled with BBCDoc's comments on favouring those in country/locals, companies a) will like not hire you and b) if they were, you will likely be rejected for a visa.
There are a number of ways to get in if you don't get a job immediately.
First, try working in a European company in your home location first and then get an internal move across to Singapore. This is usually the easiest!
Second, if you plan to move anyway, then just marry the girl!

The European companies didn't reject me (i just applied to ~20 the other day) - i merely want to increase my chances by also applying to local/other companies.TropicalExpat wrote: ↑Tue, 27 Oct 2020 12:28 pm

How long have you guys been together? Getting in as the husband is much easier than just as a young EP holder.
Re: Structural Engineering/Civil Engineering Jobs in SP
You may want to determine if you can become a chartered professional engineer in Singapore. There is a real shortage of them in many engineering domains here and it really increases your chances of employment.
https://www.peb.gov.sg/
if you can't get in there try for the https://www.charteredengineers.sg/proce ... chartered/
The reason they are important is of course the sign off / "chopping" of drawings for new builds and modifications. I had to have a C.E. chop done for an interior renovation here (to ensure I wasn't altering structural or load bearing parts of the building) and the fee was eye watering.

I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Re: Structural Engineering/Civil Engineering Jobs in SP
Hi J, did you end up finding something in the civil industry? I am in the civil/water field and am planning on moving as well. I have 12 years experience and am trying to understand the current demand.
