SPR Application (Oct 2020)

Post by ThomThom » Wed, 14 Oct 2020 10:59 pm

Hi everyone!

Me and my GF SPR application earlier this month (Oct 2020), and chance upon this forum. What a RELIEF when I found this forum, that I can read up and get to know some of your experiences in the application journey. Pretty sure some of you felt the same way too when you stubbled across this wonderful place.

Anyway, being the typical applicant, here's both profile, please kindly advise on our chances.

Me:
Profile: Malaysian, Chinese, 25 y.o, Male
Education: Degree, Actuarial Science
Occupation: HR, $2500/month, On EP since May 2019
Has an elder brother who is SPR since 2 years ago.

GF:
Profile: Malaysian, Chinese, 25 y.o, Female
Education: Degree, HR
Occupation: HR, $2500/month, On EP since Nov 2018
No Family ties in SG.

Really appreciate your advise and thoughts, thanks in advance!

Being Malaysian Chinese, both of you have a greater chance than other nationalities. You will compete with your fellow MCs for the slots available. Your profiles seem to be average or below average but we have seen profiles worse than yours get accepted. If you do not get it now, try again later.

To increase your chances,
- improve your professional and economic profiles
- become a family unit

The issue I see is that the pandemic may lessen the chances of approval for everyone.

Edit:
There are experienced posters who say that marriages only add to an application if you have been married for more than 2 years. So it may not make sense to get married just to increase PR chances.

HR not a favoured profession (reserved for Singaporeans usually). However you will get it eventually.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Thanks for the insights!

I totally agree on the fact that HR will definitely not be part of the prioritised industry. Find it quite challenging to make a career jump, especially when we are on work pass.

And yes.. marriage is still a lil far down the road at the moment.. haha

Anyway, the applications been made and the best I can do is have my fingers crossed for the result. Thanks all the insights!
