The lease remains valid. It passes to whoever takes possession of the
property (most likely the bank or mortgagee and then whoever buys the apartment at auction).
What you need to do is keep an eye open for any letters stating a change in rent payment instructions. Firstly DON'T believe them without double checking and second if in doubt don't pay until your convinced you're paying the right person. Don't change your rent payment arrangements on the basis of whatsapp or text messages or voice calls. Only on receipt of registered mail and where the LEASE is also going to be updated.
There have been cases where the LL will try to hide the rent payment and insist you pay his wife or kid or friend. Don't do that. Pay to the original payment instruction only unless a lease change takes effect.
