I have been in Singapore for over 12 years and holding PR since 2009 been with multinational company and earning over 160K per year .

Profile :
Nationality - North Indian
PR Since - 2009
Work - MNC
Per Year - 160K
Education - Bachelors/Masters from India and Diploma for local polytechnic
Citizenship - 2nd Application , 1st application back in 2015 which was rejected.

So again back in SEP2018 I applied again for the Citizenship and at that time there wasn't provision of online application or was in transition while i applied physically at ICA.
I waited for a year and in SEP2019 reached out to ICA to know the status and was told that they been waiting for the documents to be submitted which was surprising for me as no body from ICA intimated me for a year that they required those documents . I submitted all the required documents and been waiting since then so overall application been pending for over 2 years wondering if somebody else has similar experience ?
Also based on profile thoughts of getting chance of citizenship?

And Indian National is still an Indian regardless of the colour of their skin. Northern Indians show the least ability to integrate with the local Indian community. They have a harder time due to this.

First I like to thankyou for the response.
Second - Married but no kids (we had unfortunate one still birth last year)
Third - its to those who made comment about integration when i quoted “north indian” so to clarify the reason i put north indian is because like to completely disclose my profile to get idea about the application however with your response it clealy demonstrate your mentality and view how you see north indians but my view is all people integrate and mingle as they find environment suitable..
So again keep your grudges and wrong mentality with you and not bring it forward on social media..

I happen to be married to an Tamil Singaporean and my Son-in-Law is Malayali. His parents are PRs here and have been here for over 30 years. I have nothing against any Indians except those who still like the Caste system and feel the need to differentiate themselves from the rest of their countrymen or like to gang rape women. I don't think you found a place to put down your location under nationality when you applied, so you should have guessed that your geographical location within India matters naught to Singapore. After 16 years on this forum, I have seen my fair share of your type. Fortunately, you are the minority nowadays. And your explanation is a joke.

Last time I heard of India partitioning was at the separation of Pakistan. So you are Indian, not Pakistani or Bangladeshi. The country, from what I remember has never been further divided since 1947. There has never been a North & South India like N & S Korea or N & S Vietnam.

You’d be glad to know none of the views here matter to ICA.

But I am an astute follower of politics, and I think that shapes public policy ie immigration matters in Singapore.

So if PAP was at 70%, I’d think you would have gotten your citizenship by now. So often, I have heard applications put on hold for months till elections are over.

After a 60% showing, my MP actually came to my hood to ask what our grouses are. (That’s actually the first time that the PAP has done that to my recollection)

Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to guess that the latest topic in town is about CECA, and what good is it for.

Having said that, it’s anyone’s guess whether ICA is doing stuff BAU.

For what it’s worth, Singapore always welcome migrants here to work and contribute taxes, though to be a citizen, that’s a separate matter.

@sundaymorninstable/ Please reread your paragraph again and that strongly state your state of mind as you have taken away whole discussion on a seperate topic and on political debate more on the fundamental issue any country may have...
Mate it doesn’t matter how long you have been on this forum what matter is not writeup anything which is harsh to anybody sentiments irrespective of religion/caste/color/ethnic group or what not..
Again think before you write...
Now to those who saya dis you write “north indian” in the application...and i like to ask them even within ethic group “indian” does ica not may have subgroup cat on which they may consider the application? That’s where i was going with it ..
But rather than having fruitful response you guys started taking it to rape/caste system and what not shame on you guys....what a credibility of this forum if sick people like are moderating it for that long..

Hey Kumar. Run back to your mummy. You're the clowns we don't want here. Perpetuating your endless caste nonsense based on how light your skin is. You sicken me. Truly sicken me.

And this is exactly why, a lot of Sg public policy is viewed through the ethnic lens, ie Racial Quotas for PR/Citizenships. And probably a GCE A' level student can articulate this just as well.

Racial discontent can spread like wildfire and it's a numbers game, both in probability and size of each racial group. This online bickering can easily manifest itself on the streets.

After all, the founding of LKY's Singapore was due to racial discontent. [the split with Malaysia]

is sundaymorning right to pronounce such a harsh opinion? Clearly no.
But is a sizable population having such a perception, in private? Clearly yes.

So back to your question re citizenship.
The simple and nice answer for you to hear/read is that your chances fare better than those in the "Others" category.

The harsh truth is, once you're past 40~45, your chances dwindle by a lot.
So you can keep throwing the dice, and hope for the best, before the next election.
Immigration policy will once more chart a new course, depending on how the PAP fares.

Well, keep your optimism low.

There’s a lot of applicants from banking, with salaries around that range or higher, and Indian.

They all vie for the same pie.

Your wife not work stands against you, given your combined salary would be less than 7k. You would be competing against a great many Indians working in CBD who maybe earning the same as you individually, but also have the wife working.
Don't take this personally, but the fact you were trying for a child, suggests you are hoping to have a child. Your wife is not working which suggests she may not work once you have a child. Therefore you would only be one tax payer supporting two non-tax payers.

I would suggest you trying to get your wife back to work again. This would raise your family income and make you more competitive salary-wise against the rest of your cohort (Indian, Finance etc etc).

I would also warn you, that once you hit 40, the chances of you getting PR would drop even faster. They don't seem to like older people these days (unless of course you are a gazillionaire!)
