It's not about whether you write under your real name but the connections you create that would allow to identify you. People tend to give away critical information and they do it more easily when they think they act anonymouselly. No, you are not, sooner you realize it, better for you.
All the people who have fell in trouble recently(The JP Morgan guy, the guy who posted the flag, the lady from NTUC who complained about HDB block weddings etc) all got into trouble due to their real identity getting revealed through social media. So the danger of using your real name in social media is real.
All these people have fallen in trouble because of the content of their posts or their actions. If they did not post or do anything offensive it wouldn't matter real name or not.
Do you really think posting as Wd40 makes you anonymous? It is probably sufficient to spend an hour or two to have enough data to identify you in real life just because of what you posted here so far. Now, if you just pissed somebody with a single, midly abusive message, nobody will care. If you offend large community on a popular discussion spot many people will take their time to get into you. Not to mention that posting racially offensive messages may in Singapore get you in more serious troubles. For the NTUC lady, I am pretty sure, if a few people file police reports she would be identified. Especially if this was not a single incident.

But you don't do such things I believe, so perhaps you just gave two rather bad, extreme examples and what you really mean, you would like to avoid easy identification and troubles based on something you said and what could be misunderstood. Or you want avoid being profiled. This, I think is ok. Nobody would care enough and you could feel more secure.

"Plausible Deniability" is what the idea of using a fake name gives you. Yes, it won't pass a forensic investigation.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!
