Transacting with people online

Post by abbby » Mon, 21 Sep 2020 9:26 am

When you transact with someone online, and would be meeting to transact, when they do ask you for 'your address' do you usually give out your full address or just block or nearby address to meet up (for security reasons)?

I usually usually use the ground floor lift lobby of my block. Occasionally, if it's not heavy I'll do the meet up at my local Community Centre which is a short walk from my block.

Yes and I think that's safer..I've had experienced people asking for unit, block and when you provide it, they disappear, that freaks me out quite abit.

Like SMS... I just say my block name. Never the actual unit number

In fact I normally take it as an excuse to exercise and walk to the MRT station

I normally ask them to meet at MRT station.
If they drive, then void deck of my block.
Unless like big item (eg. TV) will provide them block first, unit number when they reach my void deck.

Yes I think unit number (for bulky items) when they've reached would be a safe option, I'll have to remember that. Or block / MRT for smaller items.

What would be the particular concern to provide the full address? In any other country, I might be concerned but in Singapore? If the address is not necessary I just don't provide it as... it is not necessary, but other than this?
