Innocent looking chips could raise blood pressure?

Post by abbby » Tue, 15 Sep 2020 3:22 pm

Could those innocent looking potato chips raise blood pressure? Been having those during my late night snacks, and realised the blood pressure's higher than usual. Hadn't been it for a long time and did not have a spike either. :???:

Nasty...the salt content in the chips and how it causes a spike.

Salt. If you eat chips drink some water at least but it will barely help.

Maybe. A few years back the sugar industry in the UK were promoting the health benefits of increased sugar consumption. I guess the same as the tobacco companies a generation or so back. Both trying to sell more product using 'health benefits' as a marketing ploy.

The point being that there is a lot of pseudo nonsense that makes it difficult for the layman to get a true picture of what is right and wrong. And these days social media makes the whole thing worse. People will believe something written by some muppet on FB and disbelieve the actual experts.

My approach has always been that moderation in anything is a good thing.

You don’t need fear of high blood pressure or fear of too much salt as a reason to keep your potato chip consumption at a minimum... there are plenty of other reasons! When you feel the need to snack, try some nuts, seeds and fruits.

Good suggestion, only problem is when I snack on nuts and seeds, they are always salted nuts and seeds. :???:
