hi, have been lurking around these forums for a while

Can i check whats the chances i will be approved? Saw a few that applied later than me has alr gotten the AIP and im still waiting...

With the pandemic, do expect things to move a little slower. Looking at your local education, stellar results and working in a much needed industry. I would say your chances are quite promising. Do update on your outcome.

Well... stellar grades might mean you got As, but could also mean you got Ds...
I never got stellar grades, so I'm not sure how much that matters.

How long have you been working and how much are you earning? Are you married or single? Do you have kids? Are other members of your family PRs or citizens?

Haha sorry didnt clarify, took a levels and all the national exams here, 6As for a levels and first class for uni sci degree.

Im not married yet, but will soon be to a SC Just waiting for proposal. Haha.

Sibling got married to a SC, she received hers in approx 12mnths right before her rom as well

Did you registered or in progress to get professional status with any local Professional Board / Institute ?

For your reference, one of my friend have similar profile and same degree with me (but he not working towards to get professional status), he waited about 15-16 months and received AIP.

I am in progress to get my Professional title/status (with passed exam results), and i received AIP in around 10 months.

I think you stand a reasonable chance given your length of time in Singapore and your ethnicity.

Do you have siblings? Did they come to Singapore?
Why were you in Singapore from such a young age? Were you parents here?

Yep, 1 sibling in SG, obtained citizenship (didnt apply together, i was not informed/told until her AIP arrived ). No parents here, staying with relatives who migrated together.
Came to sg at a young age due to riots and family wanted us to be chinese educated, eventually stayed on and working for ~3 yrs total. One job change in between at mid 2019. I have zero identity to my home country, and can totally blend well with my friends and peers here until they see my blue IC, haha.

Also, many REP renewals, got my PR for 10+ years now. Taking so long (

Ok. Your sibling got SC?
That sucks that she didn't tell you.
It takes a long time for the application result to come. Anecdotal evidence here suggests that it's taking even longer now (pandemic, election, finance jobs).
It may also be that your salary is lower than they expect.

You will likely get it eventually given your length of stay, but it might take a but more time.

salary: $4.2k/mth (fresh grad started working this year) for a govt-owned company

- i did all my kindergarten, pri, sec, poly in sg but went overseas for uni. graduated in dec 2019 and moved back to sg and started working in jan 2020.
- 1 parent and 1 sibling, both based back in jakarta. parent was previously on LTVP from 1999 to 2017 when i moved overseas for my studied. sibling previously spent 7 years in singapore but back in jakarta with no intentions to come back to sg.
- for my direct family, i'm the only in sg now. however i have other relatives who are citizens as well.

i only applied this year but wanted to know what are my chances. also i didn't attach a cover letter, should i be working on that - will it significantly improve my chances? thought it might not be as beneficial since i moved to sg at such a young age and spent all my time here aside from my overseas education.

Finish your PHD, get a job and work for 1 year and then apply for SC. If you are doing your PHD, your stipend may not be counted as enough income for them to evaluate for SC

Do you have any other documentation, eg., your parents having something that states their Chinese origins to tie them to your Birth Certificate in spite of the fact that the BC indicates only Indonesian. If your BC states your ethnicity as Chinese, visit ICA to correct the race.
