The problem with this table is it doesn't show "new Singapore citizens" but you can infer it somewhat by looking at how stable the PR numbers are.... if every year we assume that 10% of PR's become SC it means over 10 years 250,000 new citizens have taken jobs off of natural born Singaporeans.

If I could be bothered I'd graph PR and SC approvals (which can be inferred from the annual stats report) against this and it would be quite apparent where the jobs are going I think. Every year we know that there are at least 25,000 new PR's for example.

I would say 250,000 over ten long years is not that big a number, more so if we consider the fact that most of citizen converts would already be working in good plum jobs.
This labeling of new/ true blue sgps is quite worrisome though, what's next... 2nd/3rd generation sinkie?

Next will be DNA testing to show you've been out of the motherland long enough.
