Moving out from Singapore to USA

Hi Guys,

This one is a bit out of topic since I couldn't really find a heading for it, I finally got my Immigrant Visa technically approved but with Trump in the way of canceling all Green cards, looks like I still have to wait for him to get voted out, or till he overturns his immigration policies. Since we have no choice but to wait, I was wondering if there's anyone who can assist me where to check on what year should my daughter be going in the US when we move there? She's in 2nd Grade now but her school year starts on January, US starts theirs on August/September. Does it mean if we get to go early next year she has to wait until August/September to get into 3rd Grade?

Is she in a local school here? This is definitely an issue we face as well when moving from a local school to a US school. If your kid is bright then I would push to put her in the year above but the school may insist on following the year of birth system. Another way to get around this is to move her to a US curriculum school here in Singapore prior to moving to the USA. Also some parents have resorted to home schooling to get into sync.
