Will SIA make it through the pandemic?
Will SIA make it through the pandemic?
Been reading about their huge losses and current operations at only 1%. Do you think SIA will make it through the pandemic? Requires constant huge funding to get it through this period.

The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing. If you can fake that, you've got it made. - Groucho Marx (1890-1977)
Re: Will SIA make it through the pandemic?
Yes but vastly slimmed down and with a different offering (I suspect they will drop the budget SilkAir and Scoot as soon as they can). SIA is the flag carrier, a strategic asset. It will always exist even if with just one jet and one pilot.

Re: Will SIA make it through the pandemic?
SIA is too big too fail. Sovereign airline, how to fail one? Especially one of this stature.
But it's doubtful they'll ever be revisiting their heyday; too many (excuse the pun) headwinds.
They're in for a number of tough years. Yeah, I also think some of their low-cost affiliates will get knocked on the head.
Whilst they'll undoubtedly bounce back, it will be to a new normal of eking.

Say goodbye to the A380. Costs too much too operate and too hard to fill the seats.Max Headroom wrote: ↑Thu, 13 Aug 2020 10:05 amSIA is too big too fail. Sovereign airline, how to fail one? Especially one of this stature.

I agree, it was on it's way out before this crisis. Interestingly, A380 captains still expect to fly again.Myasis Dragon wrote: ↑Thu, 13 Aug 2020 11:58 amSay goodbye to the A380. Costs too much too operate and too hard to fill the seats.
QANTAS have already effectively off loaded their A380 flight crews.
Shame, I liked that aircraft. And despite it's size it doesn't easily convert to cargo, unlike the 747. Something to do with door placement if I remember correctly.
