Does marriage decrease S-pass renewal chance?

Post by pohjeremy » Wed, 22 Jul 2020 1:09 pm

Hi all,

Currently on 1st S-pass expiring May 2021.

Employer is fine w me and intend to renew S-pass on Apr 2021.

The ICA's Self Assessment Tool states a 90% chance of successful renewal as of now.

My fiance (SGian) prefers to marry early 2021 but I prefer to marry after I get the 2nd S-pass.

He fears the 10% chance that I will be sent back to the PH (being apart may dilute relationships).

For me, I have an unsubstantiated gut feeling that marrying now will inexplicably lower the chance of an S-pass renewal as the authorities may see it as a marriage of convenience or something...

Both of us want the highest chance of renewal approval coz COVID period makes it tough to travel. I also appreciate my job here.

We are totally *not* interested in LTVP or DP or PR or the like coz he plans to relocate in future.

Kindly advice if marriage (in our case) will lower S-pass renewal chance.

Thanks lots!

The known indicators of spass approval include salary, position, education, experience, industry, and MOM quota. Being married to a citizen or PR is not one of them as far as I know. Now, I am not 100% sure of this because there are criteria that the government does not publish. Why don't you try to apply for a PMLA? A positive PMLA result would mean that your marriage to a local would not be an issue with the government.

S Pass is evaluated your own qualitification, job scope, company, etc. Not based on the the applicant's marital status
