Sales are dismal in the CBD

Post by abbby » Mon, 20 Jul 2020 9:53 am

Is it true even with Phase 2 and shops opening, people are still working from home and shops are not having much business? I am a little surprised thinking most people are back at work.

The message is still WFH if you can.

Must say I prefer it and that's the same with those colleagues I've spoken with. It seems to be a common sentiment, no one wants to return to the office.

The thought of putting on work clothes and travelling 45 mins to do for 8 hrs what I can do in front of my TV half naked is depressing.

That's so true..you could just bring the laptop and other much needed documents to work from home. Same results.

Not only that, working at the office at this time does not have any advantages. You can not mingle socially with your colleagues (it is not prohibited but strongly discouraged by MOM and company HR). Registration (safeentry and others) is required not only to enter buildings but to enter floors and individual offices within a compound.

Yes.. It seems more troublesome being out. And having to observe all the rules and regulations.

Still have to wear the mask inside the office too...

I only go in for necessary F2F meetings and to sign paperwork.

Downside during school days is starting work from 7am until 7pm...

Had to pop into the office briefly yesterday. On a floor that normally seats hundreds I saw just two people.

Yeah pretty close. I think what I was witnessing was a change to the future of the office. If hundreds of people can do their job from home, there really is no need for these large offices.

And to their credit, the company has already reached out for feedback on how people would like to work in future.

Probably they're considering downsizing the office to save costs. Since working from home yields almost/same results.

And these office rents don't come cheap, looks like they would probably have to lower their rents to attract more companies to rent from them.
