Re: REP Not Renewed PR Status?

Hello,

I became a PR in 2023 under spouse sponsorship as my wife was already a PR for many years. Both our REPs are linked and both are set to expire on the same date in mid-2025. However my wife has recently been approved to become a Singapore Citizen meaning she will no longer need or have a REP. Once she becomes a citizen, what will happen to my REP given that they are currently both linked?

It should be reissued as the same Family Ties, but as the spouse of a SG citizen. Shouldn't be an issue. However, I cannot answer if the REP will be issued with a new 5 year life or will be reissued with the same expiry date and then have to be renewed again for a new one (e.g., keeping the same expiry date as the old one. It might only be a transactional thing. You will have to call ICA for confirmation unless somebody on the board has already got experience there. If you call ICA and get a definite confirmation, please update this thread so that we don't lose the information and it becomes part of our archives.
