Singapore PR - own a condo - want to rent a room out - what do I need to know?

Post by dubplate6 » Mon, 13 Jul 2020 4:29 pm

Hello,

I am a Singapore PR. I own a condo here and want to rent out a room to some friends.

I have a template contract and will need to lodge the rent money as part of my taxable income - do I need to know/do anything else?

Thanks!

does your MCST MC allow this? That's the only other item I can think of.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

If you are using a room rental agreement with your friend, you will need to pay stamp duty on it. You can do that at the e-stamping website. If not stamp duty is paid, it will not be recognised as a legally enforceable contract. Usually the tenant covers the small cost for this.
