BTT for license conversion

Post by nat0 » Wed, 08 Jul 2020 10:22 am

hi Gurus,

can anyone advise in order to take the BTT i need to enroll as a candidate and take the lesson before the BTT? i can't find any option to book a date for BTT on the CDC website but instead asking to register account and pay $55... if i don't want to take up the lesson i need to go down personally to the center to book the BTT test date?

IIRC this is one thing you can't do online, you have to go in to set up your account so you can then book a test date.

I did the same. I want to convert my foreign driving license so I decided not to go for theory class instead want to take BTT test directly(Preferring to study on my own).

You cannot book this BTT test alone in website. I went to CDC and opened a account. I told them I only need to take BTT test so they have created a account for me with username and password.

I scheduled the exam on my convenience.(Taking it on 8th Sept)

u mean u went to CDC and paid $6.50 only for the exam? i hv done my conversion two weeks ago, i opened account online, paid registration fee $30+ (no theory class) and book a BTT date online, the $6.50 deducted from the registration fee.

btw, FYI the police traffic counter no longer located in CDC building itself, u'll hv to head to Ubi traffic police office to do the conversion...

I paid only 11.50. 5 for account opening and 6.50 for exam.

If you do it online then you will charged 30 plus.

So to convert an overseas drivers license I need to go to the CDC office just to book a BTT if I don't want to take a course?

Also, what about motorcycle license? Is that automatically included if my motorcycle eligibility is included with overseas driver's license.

Yes you need to go to CDC to just book a BTT. Tell them that you want to take only the test.

About the motorcycle license, I am not sure about this part thats why I posted this question in another thread. Anyhow if I don't get any answer, will go to Traffic police directly once I cleared my BTT and get the required info. BTW I am taking the test on 8th September.

Depending which country you are from the mc license will be converted also. However you will only get a 2b (up to 200cc) unless you can show you completed your testing on a larger cc bike.

Which means, I can get Class (2B + 3) license together ?

Correct, providing they recognise your license. They generally don't recognise if it's from a country where you can buy a license.

Thanks. In Australia, we have rider training and practical testing to get your P1 learner permit. You go through two stages of learner permit P1 and P2 with restricted capacity before you can graduate to an unrestricted license. Typically takes 3 years to get an unrestricted license but there's no rider training or practical testing to graduate - this only happens for P1. I'll check on this when I go to book my BTT but do you have any insight for now?

When I converted my license, based on feedback here, I took along proof that I had been riding big bikes. The auntie didn't even look, just gave me class 2 and 3.

Since then I think it's become a bit more difficult and generally people come away with a 2b, although there have been some inconsistencies so you may get lucky.

Passed my BTT test yesterday with 47 out of 50.

I have a question, will my Indian license will be invalid if I convert this to Singapore license ?
