So I am in the same situation you were in now, going through the e-journey and am trying to figure out how to convert my driving license. With the borders still closed, did you manage to find a way to get the letter from JPJ ?

hi, i have done the conversion without having to travel to malaysia. you can get someone to help you retrieve the JPJ letter on behalf, i asked my brother for help, paid Rm10 for the letter and my bro mailed it to me together with the receipt.

while waiting for the letter to reach me I registered an online account with Comfortdelgro driving school, paid $30++, and booked a slot for BTT.

took the BTT and proceed to traffic police Ubi office to do the conversion, last time it can be done at the same building as BTT but they no longer have their traffic police counter in the same building so need to walk over to traffic police ubi office. i'm staying in the east so ubi is the nearest to me to get it done.

i had my PR for 3 yrs and still able to convert the license. i think after renunciation can still convert within 3 months.

first of all you need to get the JPJ letter first before you do the rest. JPJ letter has validity of 6 months, means you have to convert your license within 6 months from the letter date.

hi, i'm getting a friend in JB to help me, may i know what documents do we need to submit to JPJ and do you prepare an authorisation letter to your brother in order to retrieve the JPJ letter on behalf?

Thanks!

Hi Nat0 and la9, did you manage to convert your license in the end? This covid period is incredibly difficult to book a BTT (2 months just to make an appointment just to head down to book a BTT slot which is probably another month away). Is there a deadline after renunciation on how long before one is allowed to convert other than the valid MY driving license and JPJ letter?

Hi. I would like to know for the EPF submission, anyone have experience or info whether I do need to get my documents to be notarized by a law firm if I choose to Mail-In my EPF Withdrawal application?

Hi, i took my BTT when cb ended last year, i dun recall going down to book a BTT slot leh, i did it online then go to the center to take the BTT and walked over to traffic police station to convert license, that's right after i received AIP for citizenship but before i go highcomm for renounciation. i think there's a deadline to convert, u need to check, coz i remember showing my Malaysia IC when i did the conversion, so if u renounced already u hv to surrender ur Malaysia IC then not sure how u convert license without Malaysia IC.

i also wondering how to withdraw EPF if cannot travel back to Malaysia.. u think go by mailing will get it settled easily? i doubt that leh.. i also dun feel safe mailing those sensitive documents back to Malaysia.. the instruction to do mailing also very unclear.. what i heard is if request withdrawal to malaysia bank is way faster than overseas bank so i can only pray border open soon..

I understand your concern. I don't think even by end of the yr the border will be open looking at the current situation in MY. I have called up a Law Firm and M'sia Embassy. Looks like to mail in to withdraw the EPF, I would need to get all my docs certified by Public Notary ($170+) and then go Msia Embassy to have this recertified again ($10+). Too much cost and time and worse if EPF screwed up by rejecting the appln due to additional doc needed or whatever reason.
