Don't lose hope as you would still have a good chance if your status shows pending. I applied mine together with my boy, 8 years of age (my case was a little complicated as my boy was born out of wedlock in Singapore and because of my status, I was worried that it would be rejected). I went through a lot to apply for a resident status for my boy when he was born from long term visit pass to PR within one year after he was born. The fact that I had no job when I delivered my boy in Singapore was very tough for me; being all by myself with a baby and another son aged 11 years old then. Fortunately, my mom who lives with me stood by me throughout. I had to look for a job immediately after my confinement and was lucky to have found a job or else my boy would not have been able to live here. I applied for Citizenship together with my boy 5 years ago and got rejected. I got married (2nd marriage in Singapore) in 2019 and decided to try my luck to apply for citizenship for the both of us. I applied in June 2019 and after waiting for 16 months, I received my AIP via email on 1 November 2020. Completed my SG-ejourney on 9 November and received my final stage later on 12 November via email too. Went to the High Comm to renounce citizenship and was told that I would have to email to get an appointment. I did accordingly and the appointment given to do the renunciation is in early January 2021 and my appointment for completion of formalities at ICA is in early December. The AIP letter states that the SG-eJourney and renunciation must be completed within 2 months from the date stated in the AIP letter. So I emailed ICA and attached the appointment that I got with the High Comm and appealed for an extension of time for my completion of formalities which I managed to get an extension until the 3rd week of January next year. Well that was it and I am really looking forward to the completion. Hope these details help. All the best.
Before all that, what’s your race and previous nationality. There’s a reason to believe that chances are tied to ethnicity/nationality due to to Quotas.
Malaysian Chinese
The fact that you are both Malaysian and Chinese means you are right at the top of the pecking order.
What is your husband's nationality/race?

From the below, you can make a deduction on the gahmen's rationale on why Msians get the lion's share of PRs and Citizenships. So, Allycat's situation is vastly different from every other national.

While Singapore’s multi-ethnic population may suggest on the surface that any foreigner who are Chinese, Indian or Malay can fit in, the reality is that Singaporean Chinese, Indians and Malays have shared values and expectations and have made accommodations on how to get along.

“When you come in from abroad, you may be the same ethnic group, but it's not quite the same culture. And there can be a clashing of gears and we have to be able to manage that,” Mr Lee said.

MC processing times and circumstances absolutely cannot be a benchmark for others. There are many MC complicated cases even REP cancel/later re-PR and then immed citizenship for MC which is practically unheard of for others. Overall this works for both one wants them out and the other happy to shore up the numbers if they barely meet standards. Little wonder MC population reduce to ~20% from 35% in around 50 years.

In around 20 more years, left with inconsequential (in any electoral or decision making) number from other races.

Good link. You can't blame the Malaysian Chinese- the constitution of Malaysia basically tells them and the Indians to go to hell.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Thanks @singaporeflyer for the response.

I made a typo in the original post, btw.. I applied in November 2018, not 2019.. So, its 19 months and counting now.. :)
Any update?
Not yet. The application status is still "Pending".
The application has finally been updated. And it was rejected :( .
I will apply again in another couple of years and see how that goes.
Meanwhile, thank you everyone for your advices and guidance.

sorry to hear that. Just curious to know whether you sent any follow up mails during this 2 year wait and whether there was any feedback?
