Hello, could you please assess my chances for PR approval

Age : 32
Race : Indian
Gender : Male
Marital Status : Married for 5 years
Kids: 1 son 3 years born here
Education : bachelors in engineering
Current Field of Work : software engineer in MNC
Total experience - 9 years
Experience in current co - 3 years plus
Length of stay in SG : 6 Years
No of tax return : 5 or 6 returns
Salary : Basic 84K plus bonus Of 2 months
Pass : EP
Applied Previously: Yes 3 times
Applied now - No

Spouse Age : 33
Race : Indian
Gender : Female
Education : MBA from India and CA inter
Current Field of Work : Finance in a SG company
Current company - 4 years plus
Length of stay : 5 Years
No of tax return : 5 returns
Salary : Basic 38.4K plus bonus

what is probability in my case, given the current economic scenario and uncertainty due to COVID19. Please suggest If any changes are required to increase our chances.
Image

FWIW. newborn are given PRs as well, so those numbers for EP conversions to PR will be even less.
Historical chart above.
Throw in covid + electoral results into the mix.
Newborn do not get PR automatically even if the parent/s are PR. Will still need to go through application process.

The orange line in the chart should be SC granted to newborn by decent. Usually born overseas to one Singaporean parent and registered as SC before the baby turns one. And it is a subset of the total SCs granted each year.

Salary on the lower side, ethnicity quota. Also at 9 years, you should be someone like a senior team lead, manager, etc. Please don't take this negatively.

Try to progress well in your career, keep improving your work skills with certifications etc, salary hike, etc.

Only these can be done. But can't guarantee that this will result in approval.

That’s true. But I’d think newborns get PRs far more easily than EPs do.

Edit: Newborn of existing PRs

Disclaimer: Just my 2cts.

Refer to the chart again. Ethnic composition of Singapore citizens. Assuming this is true, new PRs and citizenships for Indian nationals will be "around" the 10% mark.

Again, 30k/year was the figure for new PRs up to last year.
So in the past few years, one can safely assume 3k new PRs are issued to Indians.

With the general assumption that the general number of PRs being approved will be less this year, we will be looking at <3k Indians being granted PRs this year?

So the competition for PRs are purely just amongst one's own ethnic group, due to quotas.

Again, just my 2cts.

And among the 2500, some of quota will go to those with family ties, like spouse of SC/PR, Kids of PR, etc

Also, in turbulent times, I think there's far more applicants for PRs, given the "safety net" that it provides.

Edit: So i think it's really a question of how to be the top Indian candidate from a huge pool, with the primary focus of settling here long term.

And someone has mentioned before that high flyers have a tendency to relocate to other localities as well, wherever the job requires. So now that's construed as a negative point [re PRship] on being overly capable.

End summary: Its all about the Quotas.

That’s true. But I’d think newborns get PRs far more easily than EPs do, because I think they are perceived to be able to integrate much better than adults.

Born Aussie or naturalised Aussie?

I read current citizenship so I’m assuming there is a previous citizenship and hence the question.

If you’re naturalised Aussie then your chance may go lower as you may be perceived as a PR collector or another way of looking at it is PR is a stepping stone to SC, but you’re unlikely to give up your Aussie passport ultimately. So the gahmen might as give the PR spot to someone who is more likely to take up SC one day.

Thanks for your inputs,
I am an Australian citizen by conferral.
Just wondering to ask regarding your comment on the " perceived as a PR collector" I have a colleague who is PR for last 20 years but not willing to take citizenship. So why SG government not forcing those PR holders to take Singapore citizenship?
thanks.
They can't force them to do so. However, what they have been doing over the years is widening the gap between the benefits of being a SC and those of a PR

Very good question. With the record number of seats won by the Opposition in the recent election and the formal appointment of the Opposition Leader, expect this very question to surface again.

“He (Pritam) noted, for example, how in 2018 he had posed a parliamentary question seeking details on the number of long-term Singapore permanent residents (PRs) over certain periods and their reasons for not taking up full citizenship.
Read more at https://www.todayonline.com/singapore/p ... as-despite

Also this, the President, when she was still a PAP MP had this to say:

Jurong GRC MP Halimah Yacob welcomed the latest comments, but felt the important point was that PRs should eventually make up their minds if they want to take up citizenship.
She told MediaCorp: “Otherwise, we would have a situation where they would stay here just to have the best of both worlds

They can’t force those long-time PR to convert by legislating it but maybe there will be suggestions to limit the REP renewal. Benefits of PR have anyway reduced significantly over the years.

That's a question to be asked in Parliament, not in this forum.

I think this forum collects anecdotal evidences and spews back the chances to you, when you seek a opinion on your odds.

The way I see it, there's no harm in applying.
Its still the luck of the draw, within your ethnic group.
