One of my colleagues is nearing retirement--she's been thinking about enrolling in adult care, together with another ex-colleague who's in her late seventies. She's been asking me about my opinion, but to be honest, I've never even heard about this before. She's actually, genuinely, excited about signing up because she thinks it's a great way to make new connections at her age.
Does anyone have any experience with adult day care or know someone who does? Is it as grim an experience as I'm imagining it to be, or is it really as wonderful as my colleague thinks?

Adult Daycare?
Re: Adult Daycare?
I've only heard about nursing homes, but definitely not adult care.
Is she signing up in one in Singapore? I can imagine the fees could be rather high.

Re: Adult Daycare?
Possibly an assisted living facility. I don't know if any exist here or not but they are big in the west. My father lived in one the last 4 years before he passed on. You might say they are an upmarket Old age home, but with the exception that you can come and go as you please. Dad even kept his car.

Re: Adult Daycare?
I don't know which facility my colleague was eyeing, but I saw that NTUC had an adult care programme--the prices look comparable to child care rates TBF.

An assisted living facility sounds like it might be for people who have difficulty living on their own, perhaps due to mental or physical issues? If that's the case, there probably aren't that many of them who live independently at least some of the time, even if they're able to come and go as they please. I kind of wish there was something like a dementia village set up here, though perhaps not just for people with dementia.
