Hotmail

Post by abbby » Tue, 19 May 2020 12:59 pm

I am getting so much trashy spam mails from Hotmail. How can I reduce the number of spam mails from coming into my Hotmail? It's irritating having to see hundreds of them each time I log in... :(

How I do it is send everything to junk not from someone in my address book. This is a bit hit and miss. So I use two rules.

The first deletes any mails where the address contains - I add the domain (everything after @), this eliminates the bulk.
The second is based on subject, e.g. contains Costco, etc.

Can take a little while to set this up but it has removed 95% of my spam.

I'm using Thunderbird as my mail reader, I don't often use Hotmail via the web.

My important mail goes to a secure email server (Proton Mail) and I don't get any spam there.
