EP or DP on LOC--and banking jobs feedback
Hi frds, I have few queries about the job I have been offered in SG. I came to SG on DP. I got 4800 S$ monthly contract job offer recently. Also the agency is applying for EP from it's side. (Agency as employer). I want to know that LOC with Dependent Pass is a better option or EP? What specifically are the benefits of having EP. Also let me know if the banking sector here is good to work. My previous employer was a big IT MNC.Please suggest. Thanks

Re: EP or DP on LOC--and banking jobs feedback
If you get employed via the Letter of Consent, the validity of your work permission is tied to your spouse's EP. When the spouse anchor's EP expires so does your LoC. The LoC is renewed at the same time the EP is renewed
On the other hand, if you have an EP, it is based on your own merits and your employer. The means it is not tied to your spouses' EP. This is good because should your spouse lose his job for whatever reason, if you are on a LoC you will also lose your job at the same time. Double whammy. Both incomes gone at the same time.
However, the criteria to get a LoC is not as stringent to obtain as the EP is. If you have the qualification to get it on an EP that would be the way to go.
