If you get employed via the Letter of Consent, the validity of your work permission is tied to your spouse's EP. When the spouse anchor's EP expires so does your LoC. The LoC is renewed at the same time the EP is renewed
On the other hand, if you have an EP, it is based on your own merits and your employer. The means it is not tied to your spouses' EP. This is good because should your spouse lose his job for whatever reason, if you are on a LoC you will also lose your job at the same time. Double whammy. Both incomes gone at the same time.
However, the criteria to get a LoC is not as stringent to obtain as the EP is. If you have the qualification to get it on an EP that would be the way to go.
