Repatriation of Indian FDW

Post by vishal1528 » Tue, 05 May 2020 6:37 pm

Hi All
I am in a peculiar situation where I got stuck with my Indian helper because of lock down. As she was not wrkng properly I gave her 30 days notice in Mid March. But unfortunately india blocked flights and Singapore MOM also restricted transfer of maids. I tried her getting her transferred but her application Alrdy got rejected twice. May be beacause of CB. I am badly stuck...cannot cancel her WP as I cannot send her back to India ( no flights ). MOM rejecting transfers in view of covid CB. Does anyone has similar issue. Can anyone advice?

Pay an agent to take her off your hands - you'll have to pay off site accomodation and probably her salary. This is certainly an issue - fortunately my FDW decided to rush back to MM before lockdown and it was a good idea.

Think about it, if your employer thinks about you this way. For humanity sake, bear with her until the flights resume, okay?

If she is only doing 50% of her work load it means she's probably been doing the work of two maids before from the sounds of the tone of your message. Karma is a beach!

This may help. It allows you to cancel the helper's permit (i.e. fire her) if you can find an agency who will take on the helper and transfer her - the agency holds the permit. You will have to pay for sure. Looks like OP may not have been the only one with this problem and as no new helpers can come in and the country cannot run without them the gahmen had to find a way to keep the ones they have here somewhat locked in.
