People still without masks
People still without masks
I still see several people walking on the streets without masks...some people, just won't listen..
The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing. If you can fake that, you've got it made. - Groucho Marx (1890-1977)
Re: People still without masks
Yes, just had a short walk this morning and saw a number of them doing nothing exhausting and with no masks on. These people just care about not being fined and nothing else and that's why there should be no exemptions from wearing the masks while in public.

Re: People still without masks
china has not mandate face civerings when outdoors.
UK govt. "Scientists conclude that risk of catching virus outdoors is minimal".
I sense we are seeing a worldwide drift towards outdoor face coverings voluntary.

Re: People still without masks
Well drinking beer with a mask on would be a challenge.
if there's thing more annoying than people who can't follow the rules, it's the holier than holy perfect people judging and publicly shaming other people.
More seriously the Benefits of wearing masks outdoors is highly debatable. Small chance sure, but it's never gonna or even supposed to be 100% but slowing down the spreading.
Inside supermarket, bus train for sure to protect the staff from customers' coughs etc makes sense. Wearing the mask on your walk to supermarket in many cases mostly empty sidewalks and breathing through it making it wet and very uncomfortable and less effective when you need it indoors doesn't make much sense. Only reason to do it is to avoid the risk of fine and those Stomp citizen reporters saving the world.

Yes, so ridiculous! I often see people in the parks without masks. They are not doing vigorous exercise; most of them are barely even moving. The guidelines should be made clearer as to what constitutes physical exercise if the government is truly serious about enforcing these regulations.

Just make masks non-mandatory outdoors - it's overkill anyway.

Re: People still without masks
You really need a medical N-95 worn tightly with no gaps, and force all your breathing through it to reach 95% effectiveness against inhaling airborne droplets if present. So why bother with the cheap masks? Because it effectively reduces the dispersal range of airborne particles (the germ cloud) that YOU might be expelling. The key is “cloud control” and for outdoors and well ventilated spaces where safe distances can be maintained - wearing a mask is indeed overkill. However, making a complex set of rules for people to follow is just going to cause confusion, so yes... wear it for show - just so your fellow man sees it and follows along.

Absolutely - I'm under no illusion that the government will ease mask wearing whatsoever anytime soon, for the exact reasons you mention. Also, economically speaking, there's no real downside to mandate outdoor mask wearing, only upside, so no deeper incentive to change their stance.malcontent wrote: ↑Sat, 06 Feb 2021 12:54 amThe key is “cloud control” and for outdoors and well ventilated spaces where safe distances can be maintained - wearing a mask is indeed overkill. Maybe when there's widespread vaccination they'll consider it, who knows.
However, I have deep doubts Singapore will reach any level of herd immunity w/vaccines in 2021-22.
I know a couple who's got the first jab, but I also know several who declined it; reasons stated: 1) Scared of needles, 2) scared of purported side effects, 3) noone's sick in SG so why do we need it (logical question), 4) wait x number of years before they feel it's safe to take etc. Even worse, these rejections were mostly by healthcare workers...
I reckon the government simply need to properly incentivize the population to take the vaccine.
Hand out a limited edition vaccine themed Hello Kitty doll after jab #2?

They'll be breaking down glass doors to get it (the last sentence). I was here during the Hello Kitty debacle.

I’d continue wearing because of this article.
Lower viral load, less complications. Just my 2cts.
