It looks like a survival move, protection from creditors.

The airline industry is going to be very different at the end of all this. I would expect fewer airlines, fewer flights and higher fares for quite sometime. Global travel is going to take years to get back to pre-covid days. Maybe it never will.

It's done. I can't see SIA, Etihad etc freeing up cash to prop up Branson. The Aussie govt - quite rightly - is supporting the flag carrier Qantas. We've been through this before with Ansett and TAA - flushed a lot of money down the drain supporting arilines as the taxpayer.
