IPA with entry approval request

Post by e5m2iy » Tue, 31 Mar 2020 9:31 pm

Hi All,

Anyone of you got IPA of EP recently and employer is applying entry approval for you?

As entry approval is needed from both MOM and ICA now, and seems have to enter Singapore within 10 days or so ...

Cuz I just received an IPA and planning to tender resignation, however due to the rapid changing border limitation, considering that need to bear the risk as I have long notice period ...

Let’s share if anyone got similar hesitation now. Thanks!

Where are you planning to come from?

What do you mean by long notice period and how is it related to border limitation? Do you mind to explain?

I think OP meant to say that his/her new employer is getting entry approval from MOM for him to enter SG. If granted, it would be valid for 10 days or so but his current job has got a long notice period to serve. Hence, he may not be able to complete his notice period and leave within the 10 days.

OP - you may want to negotiate with your current employer to cut short the notice period. If refused, you may want buy out the remaining notice period.

Yes, that’s what I think! My notice period is three months and not quite possible to shorten lol

Or else, I need to bear the risk of resign first and get approval prior to my last day for entry. There’s uncertainties of border limitation and the job offer as well due to COVID-19 in coming months.
Struggling on how to manage the plan now

That is the calculated risk that you have to decide and take. Between, where are you from? There is a chance that all the travel restrictions MAY still be there after few months too.

I’m interested in entry approval likelihood as well. The ICA says that the chances of approval are “slim” and employers should delay bringing over employees.

A friend of a friend (no strong link, admittedly) has an employment pass and has been waiting for entry approval for his wife and child, who already had dependent passes but happened to be in South Africa when the entry approval requirement was introduced, for over a month.

Does anyone have experience with the entry approval process?

Chance is very less at the moment. Even EP Holders who are in critical services like healthcare, etc are only granted approval.
