MS Zaandam

They boarded the cruise in early March, don't they already know there's a pandemic going on?

Now there are 4 sick and 138 sick from there...what were they thinking and what was the cruise liner thinking?

Personally I've never understood cruises. On a ship with thousands of others has absolutely no appeal. I get the smaller river cruises or the scientific based trips but not the general luxury cruise. Given the success (until now) of the whole industry, I guess I'm out of step.

I think it's less about the cruise liner itself, but more the sense of calm and satisfaction that the 360 degree blue ocean view gives. Add to that the fact a cabin on a large cruise ship is (relatively) more affordable than a private yacht, the appeal of being in the midst of a large isolated yet "perceived as safe" community, and pervasive marketing that brands it as upmarket/desirable.

I mean...none of these cruise ships were spared covid19, didn't they read the news? I cannot understand the fact that covid19 has been ongoing for a few months and people are still holidaying away like nothing has happened and cruise liners are not cancelling their cruises, what's going on?

like what PNGMK said, money over morality? Since they've collected the money, might as well go all out..?

That and the fact that cruise liners are nothing but floating petri dishes.

Passengers think they're getting Love Boat. In actual fact they're getting Vomit Comet.
