Martin - try the MOH.gov.sg website. Also ICA.gov.sg

If you refuse to pay etc you will be bounced onto another destination I assume. In terms of legality it's a gray area as you are not in Singapore yet when this happens (you're in international waters to to speak). I'd assume if you have no money you'll be 'sent a bill' to pay later.

According to the article, the treatment of severe respiratory infections in Singapore public hospitals typically cost between S$6,000 - S$8,000.

From the cases of the cruise ships, I believe you can't return if you're infectious? Infected patients will be sent immediately to the NCID. And like what PNGMK, said, patients might be billed later?

If you get sick with any dangerous infectious disease you have to be isolated and treated and there is some cost involved. So goes for dozens of other cases, e.g. having stroke and landing in a hospital etc. etc. As a tourist (short time visitor), you should be insured traveling to another country. The insurance should normally cover it unless you did something falling under the "exceptions" clause. In other words, no reason to see it as some kind of specific case. This is normal that you had to pay rather than SG gov to pay for you.

Not an insurable risk, I believe?
